The Memorial of Moses on Mount Nebo reopens

Cardinal Sandri, prefect of the Congregation for Oriental Churches, presided over the opening ceremony of the Memorial of Moses on Mount Nebo (Jordan). For centuries, this has been a meeting place for the three great monotheistic religions: Christianity, Judaism and Islam.

During the inauguration, Cardinal Sandri stressed the importance of this historic event to overcome the current divisions between the eastern communities and people of other monotheistic religions, who found this sacred place as a space for dialogue and encounter.

He also expressed his desire for peace for the people of Jordan, Syria and Iraq, in the same sacred place where the Bible says Moses received the Ten Commandments.
