Christians are the hope of Syria. Orthodox and Catholic churches have played a key role in providing humanitarian aid since the war began. One of them in particular has been the CNEWA association. Since 2012, they have been contributing food, education and medicines to this area.
However, in order to remain important in Syrian society, Christians are unable to leave the country, explains Iyad Ghanem, project director for the Archbishopric of Syria’s Catholic Church in Homs, Hama and Nabk. “We need to help our people stay in the country,” he says.
That is why in his own parish, Ghanem has succeeded in bringing back a group of scouts, with 40 children. They are the hope of Syria.
