The successful French businessman, Patrik Canac, had grown apart from the Church, but he came back a little more than a year ago. The reason? The assassination of Fr. Hamel, a French priest murdered by two jihadists while he was celebrating the Holy Mass in the small french town of Ruan. “I was affected by the assassination of Fr. Hamel. I am convinced everything that contributes to the formation of people who promote the Gospel should be supported,” Canac said.
The businessman has donated a large quantity of money to build the new seminary Redemptoris Mater in Avignon, an international project that will handle the formation of missionaries and priests.
