A school of integration

Education is the basis of a society’s reconstruction. An effective formation favors the development of a community with respect for the common good. That’s how Sister Freweini Ghebreab, a Comboni missionary, explains the “Comboni Girls School” project in Omdurman. The city, a few miles from Jartum, houses displaced families who returned to the north due to conflicts in South Sudan.

The school’s goal is guaranteeing an integral education, not only focusing on academic preparation, but also human dignity. The sisters also oversee integration and religious coexistence.

Christians and Muslims between the ages of 5 and 17 attend the school. There are approximately 100 elementary students, and 25 secondary. They split the costs for tuition, uniforms and study materials.
