Bahrain, a church for the Catholic community of Arabia

The work will be finished by 2021. Once completed, it will be the main place of worship for the North Arabian community. The new cathedral of Our Lady of Arabia, patron saint of the Arabian peninsula, celebrated the inauguration of construction a few days ago.

The whole complex will be built 20 km from the capital, Manama. Not only will it be a place of worship but an episcopal curia home that will provide training for social pastoral work.

The cathedral, dedicated to Our Lady of Arabia, will be a concrete testimony for Christian presence in one of the most powerful monarchies of the Gulf. A region, as a whole, with a large Muslim majority. This will be the second place of Christian worship in the entire country, holding up to 2,000 faithful. It will also be the seat of the Church in the entire north of the Persian Gulf
