Christians in Pakistan await the conclusion of today’s hearing, October 8, at 13:00 local time, before the Supreme Court in Islamabad on the case of Asia Bibi, the Christian woman sentenced to death for blasphemy in 2010.
Today the case will be heard in the Supreme Court and, at the end of the hearing, the judges will meet in the council chamber to deliver a verdict that should be announced within a couple of days.
“It’s good to know that, after a long wait, the Asia Bibi case can have a hearing. Many people are praying for their liberation in Pakistan and around the world,” says Fr. James Channan, Dominican, who runs the “Peace Center” in Lahore.
Channan continues: “I pray that Asia will be liberated soon and that she can be reunited with her family members who have lived through many years of pain and anguish. If released, it will also give great relief to all those in the world who felt deeply involved in this case by praying for her so that the innocent may finally have justice.
