Christmas for Pakistan means sharing

The Christian faithful in Pakistan have taken the opportunity of Christmas to share feelings of joy and peace with the Muslim communities. “The Church in Pakistan is committed to promoting social and inter-religious harmony,” explains Bishop Samson Shukardin, who is head of the Catholic diocese of Hyderabad.

“On the occasion of Christmas, the Muslim and Hindu faithful also participate actively in the celebrations of Christians; and accept the invitations addressed to them. I am happy to see that many non-Christians take the initiative and celebrate Christmas with their neighbors who are. This is a positive sign of the promotion of humanity, peace and fraternity. This week I participated in three Christmas programs with Muslims and Hindus,” says the bishop.

The National Commission for Inter-religious Dialogue and Ecumenism (NCIDE) of Catholic Bishops organized a Christmas sports festival. As a result, teenagers from various religious communities participated.
