Lesson to be learned from persecuted Christians in the Middle East in times of coronavirus

Christians in the Middle East have suffered years of persecution, violence and terrorism, and now a pandemic is added to the list. Nonetheless, they focus primarily on unity with God.

Fr. Luis Montes, a missionary in Baghdad, says they believe this is the moment to draw closer to God, because although they are going through difficult times because of the pandemic, God continues to pour out His blessings.

The Argentine missionary from the Incarnate Word Institute also said that people feel trapped because they can’t go to Mass. Nevertheless, they are praying and talking to God more. They miss receiving the sacraments.
