In Africa, the coronavirus is not the only reason to live in isolation

Nigeria, Sudan, Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are the African countries with the highest levels of persecution and discrimination against Christians. COVID-19 continues to advance, giving Africans another reason to live in isolation. First it was because of religious persecution. Now it’s also because of the pandemic.

Extremists have taken advantage of the opportunity to blame Christians for the pandemic. There’s a direct correlation between Sub-saharan African countries most vulnerable to the virus and countries where Christians face the highest level of persecution for following Jesus.

Despite the difficult situation, Christians in Africa continue to cling to their faith. Reverend Hayab says that in all this, we continue to recall the Word of Jesus: ‘Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.’
