“I would like to transmit to all the Chilean people, not only Catholics, the solidarity of the Holy Father, who is so close, who prays for us and asks himself, as we do, how he can help us move forward.”
These were the words of Msgr. Aós, archbishop of Santiago, during an interview with Radio Maria from Chile, as reported by Agenzia Sir.
In the same interview, Msgr. Aós expressed concern, not only for material losses, but especially for the Christian community who is suffering.
Some days earlier, Agenzia Sir had reported the archbishop’s appeal following the fire at the Church of the Assumption. In it he asked for an end to violence and to not justify the unjustifiable. He then invited Chileans and all people of good will to pray for an end to rancor, hatred and violence.
