Mansha Noor, executive secretary of Caritas in Karachi, Pakistan, tells Agenzia Fides that this is the second year in a row that Catholic, Hindu and Muslim volunteers have served free Iftar to Islamic police officers who serve near the Cathedral of St. Patrick. This is the dinner that breaks the daytime fast that Muslims must keep during the month of Ramadan.
“Because of their work commitment, they can not communicate with their families to break the fast. Many of them are road safety agents committed to protecting people. We wanted to show them a sign of unity, value their good work and promote interreligious harmony in the city”, she says.
